Kilimanjaro (5895 m) is the world’s highest free-standing mountain and also the culminating point of the African continent. Reaching its summit is a really challenging but also awesome experience.
I climbed it for the first time in 2004 and assumed at that time it was also the last one... But things worked differently, when in 2007 my daughter asked me “Daddy, why don’t you take me to the top of Kilimanjaro?”… So I did, with my then 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son. This year was my third climb with Roxane, my 15 year old daughter.
Last Thursday the 6th of October at 8:20 am, by a temperature of -15 Celsius and oxygen at only 40% of its sea-level density, Roxane and myself still managed to easily pop the corks of our 2 champions, a bottle of Cap Classique Brut Reserve and a bottle of Cap Classique Brut Chardonnay. And believe me, we just popped the corks to celebrate as there is no way we would be able to have more than a tiny sip of it at that altitude...
Rather than words, find here below a few pictures to give you a feel of this stunning climb. And if ever you get the envy to live such an experience, let me know and I’ll gladly sponsor your bottle for the top!
